This green tea gets its name from the fact that the tea buds are rolled into tiny "silk balls" or pearls as they are sometimes called. Each Kilogram of this tea is made up of thousands of these silk balls, giving it a unique appearance that is as lovely as it is great tasting.
This tea is hand picked in mountains near the Fujian border with Jiangxi, the nearest city is Fuding. The jasmine flowers that are added to this green tea are picked early in the morning and added in the evening only after they open. The process of making this tea involves layering the tea leaves with jasmine flowers several times, after which the leaves are rolled into silk balls and dried.
