Chinese Puer Tea - Green Puer Tea

Puer tea is a fermented tea that has been a favorite in China since the Tang Dynasty. It is sold in cakes or blocks and the longer they are aged the more valuable a Puer tea becomes. This Chinese tea gets its name from the town of Puer, where it was first processed and sold.

One of the biggest reasons this tea is so well loved, besides its taste is the fact it is cropped very early in the season. This tea is cropped when the buds are less than an inch long, and the quality is determined by the size of the leaves at harvest. The smaller the leaves are the higher the quality of Bi Luo Chun tea.

Dragon Well Chinese Green Tea

Dragon Well is the most famous of all Chinese green teas. This tea is grown in the West Lake region of Zhejiang, China and the leaves are only cropped during the spring time. The weather in this region is ideal for growing tea as the dew drenches the leaves each morning, which helps create the superior quality and taste of Dragon Well green tea.

According to Chinese legend the village where this tea is grown was suffering from a severe draught. A monk summoned a dragon to save the village, the rains came and the village was saved. To this day a well provides the village with fresh spring water for the meadow where Dragon Well tea is grown.
